Ideas To Host A Unique Funeral For Your Loved One

Derek Murphy

Losing someone you love isn't easy, yet death is inevitable. The benefit of having loved ones is the special moments and memories you create. However, the hard part is going on with life without them. As you prepare to hold a funeral for someone you love, you might want to ensure that you host a unique, memorable funeral. But how do you do this? Here are some ideas to consider as you begin planning your loved one's funeral.

Have a theme

One idea to consider is having a theme for the funeral. With a theme, you can decorate with items that correlate. Additionally, you could ask the guests to wear items that fit the theme. For example, did your loved one have a favorite football team? If so, you could ask guests to wear football jerseys to the funeral. The goal is to choose a theme your loved one would love, and you can choose by considering their life and hobbies.

Create a slideshow

Slideshows are becoming very popular at funerals. You can choose pictures of the person over the years with their family and loved ones. You can also choose ones of the person alone. In any case, you'll want to pick pictures that illustrate this person's life, personality, and hobbies. You can choose a song to play with the slideshow or a set list of multiple songs, and you can play the slideshow before the funeral and during the viewing hours.

Decorate accordingly

A funeral home is the most common place to hold a funeral, and you can hold your service there or somewhere else. But you'll have the option to decorate the building for the service. As you plan for this, you might consider the theme you selected for the service. If you don't choose a theme, you could decorate with memorabilia. For example, was your loved one an extreme fisherman? If so, you could decorate with fishing poles or other fishing items.

Plan the service

Additionally, you can plan the service according to your loved one's desires. For example, did they have a favorite song? You could play this song during the service. Does your loved one have a dear friend willing to give a eulogy?

Talk to a funeral home

Finally, you can talk to a funeral home to learn more about your options. Then, you can start planning a funeral that will be memorable and unique.
